prerequisites for this workshop: Be passionate about photography. Own a camera… any camera. Bring as many of them as you’d like. Holgas, vintage film cameras, SLRS, Dianas, even cell phones for goodness’ sake. We’re getting down to the essence of creating, with whatever tools you bring along.
INTRO:
My time spent instructing online over the past three years has been wonderful… I’ve learned so much from my students. The opportunity to teach four classes on ClickinMoms this year, on top of a hectic schedule, made me realize just how much I want to teach in person, especially after the experience of team-instruction with Columbus-Ohio-talent Amy Parrish for a PPA Super Monday course, volunteer teaching at a local business, and a few one-on-one classes here and there. More than anything else, I realize how delicate our passion for photography can be… fragile even, at times. I wanted to offer a course that would not only inspire, but offer a means of confidence building, and would also offer a new perspective towards our fellow photographers, who keep popping up left and right in today’s digital age. I think it’s wonderful. Whatever path you’re on, stay there. Whether you’re a professional, or just simply love the craft, this course is for you. You can even bring a point-and-shoot to class if that’s what you’re comfortable with. You can be as uninhibited as you’d like… we’ll study objects, and light, and people…. anything and everything goes. If you love photography with your entire being and want to share that with a group who feels the same way, then this is the course for you. What you’ll learn is how to trust that voice within you…. working from the inside out, with great appreciation for the experience of photography.

Workshop Description:
This one-day, 8 hour, photography workshop experience is mostly hands on with experimental, creative exercises to rejuvenate your creative spark. There is no business-related discussion, only philosophical and psychological conversation about the direct connection between our lives, and our artwork. You will be encouraged to ‘unlearn’, forget everything you think you know, and come to class with a crystal clear mind. Recognize your work as unique and beautiful. So we can watch the changing light throughout the afternoon, the workshop will begin 1:00 p.m. and will come to a close after sunset among candles and incense, and most likely some really great music. Wear comfy clothes. Pack a lunch. Leave your worries behind and come as you are, as an artist who loves to create. There won’t be a set schedule, we will just go with the flow. Classes are small [limited to 10 max] so that everyone receives attention and has an equal opportunity to share thoughts and contribute ideas during exploratory exercises.
